Welcome! Bienvenue!
How lovely it is to make your acquaintance. I am delighted to be a part of your child’s learning experience. My name is Miss Bentley. Throughout the course of this school year, I will be your child’s Theatre Arts Teacher at Pearland Junior High West. When I am not teaching, I work as a professional Actress and independent short film creator. I have an earnest passion for education as I have a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Southern University and A&M College, a Diploma in Writing for Children & Teens from The Institute of Children’s Literature, an M.L.A. in Drama from the University of St. Thomas, and a Graduate Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Rice University. I have worked in the educational sector for a decade but I have worked with youths for twice that long.
As a former Adjunct Instructor and Theatre Teaching Artist, I demonstrated a keen ability to build rapport with students of all ages who come from various social and economic backgrounds. I am equipped in adapting to the various learning styles of individual students. Accordingly, I use analogies when teaching, as “everyone is ignorant, only on different subjects”. My instruction challenges students to delve deep into their subconscious and discover their greatest abilities. Theatre is a dynamic form of art that requires a conscious understanding of the human condition. Thus, I anticipate aiding you and your child as s/he discovers their natural abilities and transform their weaknesses into strengths!
Homework will be assigned throughout the semester. While I keep the assignments to a minimum, I do expect completion. All students must sign and be a witness for the PJHW Theatre Ensemble Contract. Additionally, in-class assignments must be submitted during the class period. Make up work will be allowed at my discretion. Grades are a cumulative score of 100 points, involving quizzes, oral presentations, group projects, essays, and in class performances and class participation.
If at any time you would like to discuss your child’s performance or any concerns you may have, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me at: [email protected] to schedule an online or in-person conference. If you prefer to speak via phone, you may reach me at 281-218-4222.
I look forward to working with you and your child as we laugh, learn, perform and grow together!
Best regards,
Miss Bentley

Miss Bentley's Classroom Environment
Red Letter Key from left to right:
W is for a wheelchair student
Q is for a quiet student
T is for tall a student
Checks are for students who behave well
S is for a student that sleeps
My ideal classroom is an open concept as it allots ample working space for theatre activities. It also presents everyone the opportunity to be visual when sharing ideas and engaging in class discussions.
